Salt Dough Ornament Recipe
For those of you who are self-Isolating at home with small people or for those just looking for something creative and cheap to do for fun
Today my children and I have made Salt dough mementos of our time in lock down. The process was very easy and enjoyable and hasn’t made too much mess. Although this isn’t a situation we would usually be marking it certainly is a historical event in our lifetime, one that we hope will not be repeated again!
Ingredients
500g plain flour 250g salt 250 ml water Mix into a dough
- Knead on a smooth surface until it comes together in a ball with a rolling pin or glass bottle, roll out
- You can use cookie cutters to make individual shapes remembering to make a hole to put ribbon in
- Alternatively, you can make a plaque with hand prints or words
- Bake in oven on lowest temp (I did 175) for 3 hours
- Let it cool completely
- Paint with acrylic paint preferably or glitter then varnish to seal
Stay safe, stay home
